Ollie the Owl FAQ
Please note, when we describe which wings and feet have what function, we do so from Ollie’s perspective - not as you look at him Ö)
How do I use Ollie?
Turn Ollie on using the master on/off switch on the battery pack inside the Velcro closure on Ollie’s back. Click Ollie’s right wing to activate the Sound and CrySensor; the first click will play a gentle Lullaby the second will play white noise static, both will play for 20 minutes before the CrySensor turns on. Click his left wing to activate the soothing sounds of Heartbeat or Rainfall which will play for 20 minutes before turning off each automatically.
Squeezing his right foot will turn on his lights in his tummy with the option of four levels of brightness. His left foot changes the volume and activates it in silent mode.
Which sounds are available when the CrySensor is activated?
The CrySensor is available on Ollie’s right wing and plays the Lullaby or White Noise traditional static. The Heartbeat and Rainfall sounds are activated from Ollie’s left wing but do not have the CrySensor facility.
What is the CrySensor?
The CrySensor is an innovative development which allows Ollie to listen out for noises made by baby, when the CrySensor is activated Ollie will automatically start playing his soothing sounds and help settle your child back to sleep. Ollie can hear all noises within a room but is specifically programmed to react to crying or sharp sounds which may disturb your child.
How does it work?
Having activated the CrySensor, Ollie will listen out for your little one. Ollie quietly listens for the next three hours. Should he hear your child stir within that time then the chosen sound (lullaby/static) will play for 20 minutes. He will then go back to listening. Every time he hears your child stir, he will activate for 20 minutes and start his listening count for another three hours. If your child is having a difficult evening, Ollie may continuously play the chosen sound from one 20 minute play time to the next and continue playing until your little one is settled.
What happens if you press a button when Ollie is in CrySensor mode?
If you press any other buttons whilst in CrySensor mode, you will turn off the sensor and Ollie will stop listening.
How do I check the CrySensor is working?
If you wish to check the CrySensor, then activate it using the instructions and clap next to Ollie to hear him activate your chosen sound.
Where should I put Ollie?
Ollie should be placed near your baby so your baby can see and hear him and so he can listen in CrySensor mode. Toys should not be placed on the mattress inside a sleeping baby’s cot so use Ollie’s Velcro loop to attach to the cot or place him on furniture nearby.
How do I turn Ollie off?
If three hours passes without Ollie hearing your child stir, the CrySensor will automatically turn off. You can use the master power switch to turn Ollie off completely.
How many light levels are there on Ollie?
There are four light levels including no light, all of which can be activated via Ollie’s right foot.
How do I adjust the volume?
The volume control can be adjusted on Ollie’s left foot.
How do I activate the sound?
The sounds can be activated via Ollie’s wings.
How do I know when the batteries run out?
The level of light becomes weaker and the sound played becomes less clear.
How do I conserve battery?
Use Ollie on just the sound functions if light is not required.
What sounds can Ollie hear?
The CrySensor works best when Ollie is less than 1 metre from your child. When noise levels within 1m reach 50dBA, Ollie will be activated and play your chosen sound.
How do I make Ollie’s CrySensor more sensitive?
If you want Ollie to react more quickly to noises when in listening mode then ensure there is no barrier between your child and Ollie. For Moses baskets with solid sides have Ollie higher than the side of the Moses basket and ensure his tummy is facing the Moses basket.
How do I make Ollie’s CrySensor less sensitive?
If Ollie is too sensitive move further away from the child.
How do I care for Ollie?
